On the isolated rock of Ailsa Craig (also known as Paddy’s Milestone), there was once an unusual bird that shared this remote and isolated stone with some 80,000 gannets …the Puffin.

This charming little bird was forced off the island when ship wrecks accidentally introduced rats to the island. The rats plagued the island for years, killing or chasing off the population of  Puffins. Now after huge efforts to rid the island of rats, the Puffins have once again been seen on this location.

With LA Marine we will take you and your guests to Ailsa Craig aboard our luxurious cruiser ‘Louise of Granton’ and will even land you on this most isolated of sea bound granite rocks in an effort to spot these rare little birds.

While there guests can explore the remains of where workers once gathered the granite to make the worlds curling stones and marvel at the spectacle of 80,000 gannets as they swirl and dive in the air and sea around us.
